The 2012 Oxford Kinetics Festival: April 1!

January 30, 2012
Helen Armstrong

For one day, ditch the internal combustion engine and celebrate human-powered art and ingenuity. Dust off your monster bike, kit out your catapult, and suit up in your best mechnical sculpture so you can earn your kinetic street cred. Join in the main event: The Scramble— a mad mass of people-powered pedaling. Tinker Toy testosterone, and gear-head swagger. Anything goes—as long as it doesn’t have a motoer. Bring your bike; bring the kids, and bring your game face. Just don’t bring any gas-guzzling gizmos, steam engines, or new-fangled nuclear contraptions.

Miami designers and members of the local community can join in. Workshops to help you build your own kinetic machine will be happening in the art department sculpture department, every Saturday from March 17 until the Festival date.
